Outcomes of Children
with Hearing Impairment

Progress January 2008

Since our progress report in July 2007, there has been a great response from practictioners, families and interested parties of the Outcomes study. We currently have 439 children enroled in the study through the Australian Hearing centres in NSW, VIC and QLD, 336 of whom have hearing aids, only. Out of the 107 children with cochlear implants, 24 have bilaterals and 52 have been implanted since joining the study.

The article below gives a more in depth report on some of the research findings, thus far. If you prefer a quick overview, the PowerPoint presentation gives a summary of these same findings presented at the 4th Newborn Hearing Screening Conference held in Brisbane in late 2007.
